La science du cuir chevelu

Sous vos cheveux,
une peau.

On remarque les cheveux. On pense moins à la peau qui les porte. Comprendre cette peau, c’est le point de départ de notre démarche.

Three landmarks

The skin. Its surface. The hair.

The scalp is skin covered with hair. It should not be confused with the lengths: caring for one and the others addresses different questions.

The epidermis, on the surface

The epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. Beneath it lies the dermis.

A barrier function

The skin protects the body from its environment and helps limit water loss.

The follicles, in the skin

Hair emerges from follicles in the skin. The visible part of the hair extends above its surface.

Understanding the evidence

One ingredient doesn't tell the whole story.

The name of an active ingredient is a starting point. Its concentration, the formula it is part of, and the conditions of the study also matter.

What to look for in a study?

The product or ingredient studied, the method, the population, the duration, and the observed result. These elements help clarify the scope of the conclusion.

Ingredient and finished product: what’s the difference?

A study on an ingredient describes that ingredient under given conditions. It does not, on its own, demonstrate the effects of a serum containing it.
